Song Story:

The heart of a true worshiper understands that what God is looking for is more than a song sung in an ornate building—and more than just cash in the offering basket. “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands” (Acts‬ ‭17‬:‭24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). He has always been jealous for our love and for our whole hearts. Many people go to church and call themselves Christians, but God is longing for us to understand that WE are the temple He desires to dwell in. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬). The Bible says that “we are his house” (Hebrews 3:6). How incredible it is that the God of the universe would want to dwell inside of us!

If I knew that the king of a foreign country was coming for dinner at my house, I would be busy making all kinds of changes to my house to make it ready for such an important guest! I would clear out the clutter. I’d make my house beautiful. And I’d try to find out what food or drink my royal guest enjoys—and avoid offering anything He doesn’t like.

How much more should I prepare myself to be the house where God’s Spirit desires to dwell? The question a true worshiper asks is, “how well am I hosting Him?“ Their aim in life is to “find out what pleases the Lord” (Ephesians 5:10).
