Breathe On Us Oh God
This fresh, fiery song of worship is available on all music platforms. Breathe On Us Oh God is a deep cry for the glory, presence, and fire of the Lord to come into our midst. The song also serves as a reminder to worshipers that there is more of God than they currently know, and—when they find Him—that there’s nothing better. “And with that, He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:22).

Song Story:
Breathe On Us Oh God is a song that has been in the works for a long time. For many years, John has carried individual lines of this song in his heart as key truths that he hoped to work into different songs someday. On a night of worship with a group of young adults, John started playing a different chord progression and sang out one of those old lines. Suddenly all of these lyrics he had saved for years came together in a passionate, spontaneous time of worship. It’s with great joy that John releases this song to encourage believers in their pursuit of Jesus.
The lyrics of this song are based on some of the following scriptures:
“And with that, He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:22).
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them” (Acts 2:1-3).
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” (Ephesians 3:20).
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you” (Psalm 63:3).
