John Gabriel Arends is a worship leader and recording artist with a heart to see people everywhere encounter God's love, truth, and supernatural power. John frequently leads worship at churches, conferences, and events locally, across the USA, and internationally.
As a songwriter, John strives to craft songs that will cause people to enter into an experience. As a worship leader, his passion is the same. "I don't want people to just sing songs to the ceiling—I want them to encounter the presence of Jesus and be caught up in into an open heaven."
Each of John's songs have cutting-edge lyrics, birthed from John's own relationship with the Lord and having solid ties to the Scriptures. They carry a cry for more of Holy Spirit's presence. They are songs of encounter.
During a worship time in a small church, the Lord spoke to John and said, "I died to bring My bride back to Me. Are you willing to die to bring her back to Me?" Since that time, John has endeavored to touch people everyday for the Kingdom of God—until they all come home. With this calling burning in his heart, John's worship ministry is permeated by the longing of the bridegroom and His bride. Intimacy, holiness, purity, open heavens, revival, and joy in salvation are common overtones that people experience from John's life and ministry.
Everywhere he goes, he desires to be a "God-encounter" for the people around him. He has a passion to see people go deeper into God (Ezekiel 47:1-12), to see people become consumed by heaven and the the things of God's supernatural Kingdom, and to see Jacob's generation raised up—a generation that seeks the Lord with clean hands and pure hearts (Psalm 24, Psalm 73:1), that violently pursues their birthright (Matthew 11:12, Hebrews 12:14-17), and that walks in the wisdom of the righteous to be prepared for the coming of the Lord (Luke 1:17).
John lives in Kalispell, Montana, with his beautiful wife Unisha. John is a pastor at his home church, The River. He is an ordained minister by Global Awakening, part of the Revival Alliance with Randy Clark, Bill Johnson, Che Ahn, Georgian Banov, and Rolland and Heidi Baker. The two of them love traveling and ministering in the nations. They have three boys who are the most amazing kids you'll ever meet.
I was home schooled until I was 16—which I wouldn't trade for anything. Then I started at Flathead Valley Community College. I graduated with a degree in communication from Regent University. Regent means "one who represents the king in his absence."
SPICY FOOD! I love chiles and food made from them.
Wow, I've been to so many. I love Asia. I also like the middle, tall table at City Brew Coffee, because it's the perfect place to study, meet with friends, or minister to people who are having a rough day. ;)
To be quite honest, my Dad listened to a lot of old, campfire cowboy songs. I did not grow up listening to many famous artists or bands. Most of my music developed in isolation, and I still have not heard many famous artists. But, when I was 10 years old, I bought the Delirious Cutting Edge tapes—because they were on the bargain rack! Their worship highly influenced me.
I love to hike in the mountains here in Montana. I like to work out at the gym in the winter. I also love graphic design and media stuff...and all kinds of media technology. Oh! I love making videos, especially funny ones for youth ministry.
From me: "I have an idea!" From anybody: "Do you want to go to City Brew?" From other people: "Here's some money and lots of diamonds." From Jesus: "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
